When you are looking for a storage services solution for your equipment, chances are you’ll see a lot about temperature-controlled systems and climate-controlled systems. Although these sound very similar, they are very different systems. Some facilities may not have any control systems. These should, in most cases, be avoided. Any form of controlled environment is good for equipment storage, but some systems are still better than others.
Temperature Controlled Storage:
Temperature controlled systems modify the air temperature, but nothing else. They usually can keep a facility between 55 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and is dependent on the temperature outside. If the environment outside is extremely hot or cold, a temperature control system will keep the equipment from freezing or overheating. However, just keeping your equipment in a reasonable temperature cannot keep it safe from all elements.
Climate Controlled Storage:
A climate-controlled system maintains a moderate temperature, but also keeps humidity down. Humidity, not temperature, is the true cause of destructive forces such as mites, molds, mildew, rust, paper rot, and wood degradation. The Smithsonian, Volvo, Boeing, and the U.S. Military have all trusted humidity control technology to protect their equipment. Even today, Air Force One and Two are protected in their hangars by humidity control systems. The entire 240,000 Sq. Ft. of storage space at Tulco Industrial Storage is climate controlled. Our talented staff will also perform any requested upkeep on your equipment while it is in our care.
